The A&E Medicine specialty also known as the Accident and Emergency Department is often the point of entry for patients to a hospital.

A&E doctors are responsible for the initial treatment of patients who have sustained injuries or are ill. Many of the patients who come into the A&E have critical health conditions and require advanced treatment to save their lives. A&E doctors must be able to work under tremendous pressure. They work in close relation with the emergency transport services, nurses, the home doctors, and various specialists.
